Week 4        

  • Introduce Project II

  • prose models (modeling components of Project II)
  • Students choose topic/complete a document planner/and this is approved in class as instructor moves from student to student
    • (homework/request proof) research sources using librarian's assistance (if necessary)
 
Week 5        

  • In-class group review of a summary of a text that all students read
  • Active reading and the usefulness of annotations, summary vs. paraphrase
  • In-class drafting of summaries, drafting while teacher moves from student-to-student
  • Connecting and integrating sources

Week 6         WRITING WORKSHOP WEEK
  • revision and editing exercises; additional Peer Review in class

  • Intermediate Draft due (bibliographic essay) – 
    • Homework: Students complete two Peer Reviews (via My Reviewers)
 
Week 7         

  • revision techniques/modeling revision

Week 8
  • Transitional language and segues
  • Read all pieces in “Evidence” section
  • Final Draft of Project II due (in-class editing/marking changes/upload to MyReviewers by 12:00a.m.)

  • Reading a non-traditional text (analyzing images, videos, etc.)

Week 10       WRITING WORKSHOP WEEK

  • Intermediate Draft due 
 

  • Homework: Students complete two Peer Reviews  (via My Reviewers)
  • Intermediate Drafts  & Peer Reviews due
 
Week 11       
 

  • Project III: Final Draft due
  • Genre conventions
  • Revisiting past projects
  • Thesis: modeling appropriate theses
  • Workshop: focus on thesis development
  • Introduce Project IV
 
Project IV (Weeks 12-15)

  • Conferences to review Early Draft/proposal (students bring proposal/outlining how to incorporate previous projects and proposal of Project IV thesis)
 
 
Week 13
 
  • Workshop: Effectively Integrating Sources
  • Model possible organization for Project IV
  • Using third-person point of view
  • In small groups, collaborate on determining the audience for each student’s paper
  • Intermediate Draft Due (uploaded to My Reviewers) early this week
 
Week 14
 
  • Peer review on My Reviewers using the “Peer Review Worksheet for Intermediate Draft” from NWS
  • Peer review a second peer essay on My Reviewers using the “Peer Review Worksheet for Intermediate Draft” from NWS
 
Week 15
 
  • Editing/Revising Workshop: “Eliminating the ‘Fluff’” from NWS
  • Final Draft due
