What is The Symposium?
Essentially The Symposium is a free-blogging space for all students currently enrolled in any FYC course: 1101, 1102, or online. By historical definition a symposium is a casual get-together characterized by free entertainment. While that sounds like a blast, the word symposium more often than not refers to the communication that happens at such events: a free-exchange, sharing of ideas. Some of these communicative exchanges can be serious, such as political or philosophical debates; or, they can be more subdued, such as offering advice to others or funny stories/anecdotes for support.
As such, posts on this blog -- done by students -- can take the form of either the serious or the subdued. Regardless, blog posts should be well thought-out, informative, useful, or just flat out clever. Think about what you as a student would want to read about and go from there. It's entirely up to you. |
